This job involved some indent repairs to a Caen stone doorway on a church in Sussex. The lower section of the tower is believed to be 1000 years old, but the doorway is probably an early Victorian addition.
Hard cement pointing was concentrating moisture and salts into the soft Caen limestone, accelerating surface decay. New Caen faces and indents were applied, and the stonework re-pointed in a putty lime mortar to match the original.
