Church Repair

We are currently working as the conservation material consultant for the repair of the East gable wall of this church in West Sussex. It is situated on an island near an estuary, and has suffered from structural movement and the loss of mortar within the flint masonry wall.

We were employed to write the specification for the masonry repair, focusing on the use of hot-lime techniques for grouting, re-pointing, renders and internal plasters.

We will publish further information of our use and testing of hot-lime techniques as we are increasingly specifiying it as superior to commercially available hydraulic lime and lime-putty based mortars.
